Pillow Talk: A Specimen Case, 2013

A specimen case of samples collected from my own and friends beds on the same day.

This specimen case employs the traditional method of museology display – dark oiled wood (FSC Sapele), etched and polished brass, and seemingly archaic typefaces in order to substantiate the notion of displaying the overlooked. I took samples from beds because we, as Western humans are so intimate with them, we see them everyday, we will spend a third of out lives within them, so why not take the small fragments of our intimate lives and display them as you would a sample of a 1 million year old fossil.

The catalogue included with the case explores the subjects relationship with their bed, sleeping and indeed waking, whilst itemising the samples collected on each plate.
